PART 4: Terms and Conditions

By completing this section, you confirm that you have read and agree to Scouts ACT’s terms and conditions, that you are the legal parent or guardian of the youth applicant, and that you are over 18 years of age.

Part A – Release and Indemnity
I am the parent or carer of the youth member listed in this application and request permission for them to participate in activities organised by the Scout Association of Australia ACT Branch Incorporated (Scouts ACT) (“the Association”).

I am aware that the Association is not responsible for any injuries or damage to property which may occur in circumstances where the Association has not been negligent. I acknowledge that it is a condition of the applicant joining the Association and participating in its activities that I release and indemnify the Association in respect of any injury or damage in circumstances where the Association is not indemnified by a policy of insurance.

I have warned the applicant that impulsive, wilful or disobedient behaviour may risk causing injury to themselves, to others, or to property. In consideration of the applicant being permitted to:

  • join the Association;

  • participate in activities organised by or for the Association; and

  • use equipment and facilities provided by or for the Association;

I, for and on behalf of the applicant and myself, release and forever discharge and agree to indemnify the Association, its officers, leaders, employees, agents and contractors (voluntary or paid) from and against any loss, damage or liability arising from the applicant’s participation in Scouting activities or travel to and from those activities, except to the extent that indemnity is provided under an applicable insurance policy.

Part B – Authority to obtain necessary medical treatment
I authorise Scouts ACT and its representatives to obtain any medical assistance which, in their opinion, is necessary for the applicant, including hospital accommodation, in the event of accident or illness.

Where medical expenses are incurred and cannot be claimed under an insurance policy, I agree to pay those expenses.

Part C - Acknowledgement
I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to the terms of this release, indemnity, and authority.
